The French government approved an overhaul of its retirement system despite weeks of protests against the law.

The country is now paralysed by the biggest mass mobilisation in half a century, and not allowing a parliamentary vote on the bill has hardened the social movement against the reform, sparking even more outrage and spontaneous demonstrations.
